Nana Ama McBrown’s new movie AMA premieres tomorrow, Saturday 15 August 2026, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra. The film screens in three sessions: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Tickets are available by dialling *714*39# or calling 0540970954 for enquiries.

McBrown produced the film under McBrown Production. Director and writer Amankona Lauson Junior, known as WHOISMCLAW, handled the creative side. The script was written entirely in Twi. AMA follows a young Ghanaian girl growing up in the 1980s. It centres on resilience, hope, courage, family pressure, dreams, sacrifice and the consequences of choices. McBrown has described it as an eye-opener meant to educate and inspire young people. In interviews she stressed that parents should not force their children to carry adult problems, and that every young person has a vision that can get derailed by family challenges.

The premiere lands on McBrown’s birthday. She has publicly asked Ghanaians to honour her by showing up. High demand forced a venue change from the original Silverbird Cinemas at Accra Mall to the larger UPSA Auditorium. Performers including Akwaboah and Joyce Blessing are expected to appear live at the event.

WHOISMCLAW has called the film nostalgic and relatable, built through a clear Ghanaian lens. He said the goal was for audiences to experience a piece of the Ghana he has always wanted to recreate on screen. McBrown noted that choosing a fully Twi script marks a departure from the usual Kumawood practice of starting in English and translating later. She also highlighted that the project marks her 25th year in the industry and gave fresh talent the same chance Miracle Films once gave her.
