Stonebwoy & Shatta Hug at Ghana's 2026 FIFA World Cup support campaign

We never imagined that Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy would ever come close to each other. Guess what, they hugged each other at the fundraising event for the Black stars at our President Mahama’s request.

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy’s rivalry dates back over a decade, from diss songs to onstage clashes. No one really knew when and how the beef would end, but thankfully, our President came to the rescue.

The Moment they hugged

At the fundraising event, which was held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City on Friday, March 20, 2026, the two dancehall artistes were called to the stage: Berla Mundi and her co-host Nathaniel Attoh.

Stonebwoy first extended his hands for a handshake when Shatta Wale walked up the stage and accepted it. But then came the words from Berla Mundi,

“Mr. President says that Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale should hug on stage at this moment. This is a request from Mr. President, so you can look at him. I’m not the one asking for it."

There was a little hesitation, so they both looked at the President to see if it was true, and the President confirmed it by signing a hug from his front row seat.

Then Berla Mundi doubled down and said

"Okay, Mr. President said you should hug, let’s do it."

Then Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy hugged and even patted each other on the back. The beef is still healthy

Everything seemed fine until Stonebwoy shared a message after the event
“This is a very important call to all of us. You know that Kotoko and Hearts can never be one. They are two different teams that must continue to maintain that competitive energy to bring joy to the nation. If I say this, you know what I mean.”
But there’s still hope.
Within hours, videos flooded social media. X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok—everyone was posting the same clip with captions like “History made 🔥”, “Mahama the real referee”, and “Even beef respects power”.
