Asamoah Gyan’s name has entered the Tuba Estate shooting case because two of the suspects accused in the alleged robbery of his home are the same men police linked to the killing of a car dealer and the shooting of his wife. The former Black Stars captain has not been accused of any role in the shooting. Court reports on 27th August 2026 presented him as a victim whose pistols, football medals, watches and jewellery were allegedly taken.
On 6th August 2026 at Beach Drive Estate in Tuba near Weija, 54-year-old car dealer Mohammed Rahman was shot dead. His wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, sustained gunshot wounds. Police said the couple had returned from an evening walk when the attack occurred outside their four-bedroom apartment. Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival at Finney Hospital in Weija. Fosu was later transferred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The Accra Regional Police Command, in a statement signed by Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, announced the arrest of two brothers, Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon, with support from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. Police said Adams allegedly admitted during interrogation to shooting the couple. According to the police account, he claimed the deceased had repeatedly described him as “lazy and useless,” remarks he said affected him mentally. Adams then led officers to a room at the estate where a pistol believed to have been used in the attack was recovered, allegedly concealed beneath furniture belonging to his brother. Bala Bilyon worked with the deceased. The brothers lived together in the same room at Tuba.
On 27th August 2026 three individuals accused of robbing Asamoah Gyan’s residence appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra. GhanaWeb and YEN.com.gh reported that the suspects covered their faces as they were led into court. Two of them were identified as Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon. The third was not named in the same detail in the initial coverage. Court reports stated the men were accused of using pistols to take valuables that included pistols, football medals, expensive watches and jewellery belonging to the former Ghana captain.
YEN.com.gh noted that Asamoah Gyan has not been accused of any involvement in the Tuba shooting. His name appears solely because of the reported ownership of the stolen items and the alleged recovery of one of the pistols during the murder investigation. Police have treated him as a complainant in the robbery matter.
The Adabraka District Court earlier heard the murder-related charges against the brothers. On 24th August 2026 the case was adjourned to 28th September 2026 while police prepared to forward the docket to the Attorney General. Prosecutors told the court that CCTV footage showed Almeida monitoring Rahman’s movements from the afternoon of 6th August 2026. The footage, according to the prosecution, captured him following the couple and later firing shots near the entrance of their home. Rahman sustained wounds to the head and neck; Fosu was shot in the left shoulder.
As of 28th August 2026 the robbery case remains before the Circuit Court and the murder file is still with the Attorney General’s office. No public statement from Asamoah Gyan or his representatives has been issued on the matter in the available reporting. Christiana Fosu continues to recover under medical care.
The link between a high-profile footballer’s alleged property loss and a neighbourhood shooting has drawn attention because the same suspects appear in both dockets. Police statements and court appearances so far keep the two matters procedurally separate: one centres on the fatal shooting at Tuba and the recovered pistol; the other centres on the reported break-in at Gyan’s residence and the items listed as stolen. Investigators have not publicly claimed the recovered pistol is confirmed as one of those taken from Gyan, only that a pistol believed used in the shooting was found in the suspects’ room and that the suspects face separate robbery accusations involving Gyan’s property.
Residents of Beach Drive Estate earlier raised concerns about security at the gate after the shooting. Relatives of Rahman described him as a calm car dealer who operated a garage at Tuba Junction and who had recently marked a birthday. The police investigation continues on both the murder and the robbery files.
